While throwing the beans, one says the phrase “Oni wa soto, fuku wa uchi!” which literally means “Demons out, fortune in!”
Chika makes a pun with Riko’s surname ending with “uchi” (meaning “in”), and says “Oni wa soto, Sakurauchi,” so literally “Demons out, Sakura in”.
